About the Team

Alan McWilliam
Cairn Team Leader
Alan is an ordained minister in the Church of Scotland and is currently helping to replant Ruchazie Church of Scotland, Glasgow.
Through consultancy, training and support Alan works with many denominations, agencies and others to see new church plants and mission projects established.
He is also the European Director of Forge – a training and resourcing organisation for new missional expressions of church.
Alan has a strong desire to see the Church break out into new patterns, which will be effective in communicating the gospel to the people of Scotland.
He is married to Diane, has two sons and is a fervent Rangers FC supporter.

Berdien Ringland
Berdien is responsible for Operations within Cairn. She is originally from the Netherlands and married to Stuart.
Prior to moving to Scotland, Berdien lived as a missionary for 10 years in South East Asia where she pioneered a children’s home, and the Middle East she pioneered a missions base for Iris Ministries.
Berdien is passionate about missions, societal transformation and discipleship. She loves to travel, spend time with friends and hike.


Rich Robinson
Rich serves on the Cairn team and is responsible for Collaboration and work with Christian entrepreneurs (in partnership with CREO).
He also serves, beyond Cairn, as the Team Leader for Catalyse Change (www.catalysechange.org), which provides training and coaching globally for church leaders, network leaders and entrepreneurs. The various initiatives of the charity are all created to equip and enable leaders in releasing potential through discipleship and leadership cultures; activating movemental dynamics and disruptive innovation in their context, and catalysing spiritual, strategic and social change for the good of others. Catalyse Change has initiatives such as 5QCollective, CREO (working with Christian entrepreneurs) and Movement Leaders Collective amongst others. Over the past 20 years he has led pioneering work in missional disciple-making, innovation and entrepreneurship, and organisational change across the globe.
Locally, he lives in Edinburgh, Scotland, and is married to Anna, who is a writer and editor, and they have three children: Josiah, Esther and Samuel. They are passionate about living with integrity and intentionality as a family that follows and shares Jesus.

Aaron Elder
Aaron leads Oxgangs Community Church, a church plant in Edinburgh. He has experience of leading within an established church context as well as pioneering new missional communities.
Working alongside church leaders, Aaron offers coaching and training which helps to prioritise and implement new forms of mission and discipleship. He is also involved in leading the Forge Pioneer Course in Scotland and Ireland.
Aaron is married to Amy and has recently taken up golf as he’s given up his dream of ever being a Premier League footballer.


Lewis Catto

Kenny Roy
Kenny is married to Tricia, who runs an outside catering business, As You Like It. They are part of Central Church in Edinburgh where they are involved with a community engaging with refugees in the city. They have two adult children, a daughter in law and two grandchildren.
Kenny qualified as an Accountant in Edinburgh in 1988 and worked in business until 2008. He then spent six years as Executive Pastor at Morningside Baptist Church, Central Church leading in areas of finance and operations during a period of significant transition.
In 2014, Kenny set up his own Accountancy practice, Bayrd Roy, serving charities by providing financial reporting and support. Kenny is always keen to play golf and loves walking the hills and mountains of Scotland.


Faith Brennan
Faith is responsible for Grow within Cairn. Faith and her husband Scott have been church planters and leaders for over 15 years. They planted Lighthouse Central, an innovative church in Prestonpans in East Lothian. Faith also worked for Central Church in Edinburgh for 5 years, developing and supporting their vision to be a church of missional communities.
Faith is passionate about seeing people reach their potential and loves to champion and encourage leaders.
Faith also runs her own property business and goes annually to Ghana as part of the charity Love Ghana. Faith and Scott have two grown up sons. In her spare time Faith loves to hang out with her family, be in the garden and walk in wild places.
In the beginning of 2021 Faith and Scott moved to Holy Island. The adventure continues …

Iain Sutherland
Iain is an Assemblies of God Pastor working bi-vocationally. He is planting a fresh expression in west Fife following on from over 20 years in the parish as a Church of Scotland minister.
Alongside his church leadership coaching practice (Burnside Coaching), Iain is also the Scottish network co-ordinator for the growing Local Houses of Prayer from Ffald y Brenin in Wales; these mini missional prayer communities bring mission to an accessible, simple, and local level which is Iain’s heart for the equipping and release of God’s people in every part of the Celtic lands.
He is married to Heather, has a daughter and son both at Aberdeen University, 3rd, and 1st year, respectively. Iain is a keen Edinburgh rugby fan and loves walking through Scotland’s scenery.


David Baker
David has led both Baptist and New Frontiers Churches, but for most of his working life he has worked with Churches, Charities and Community Organisations to support and equip them with management, administration, funding and governance. He now works as a charity advisor.
He is married to Sarah, has three daughters, and is happiest when he is making bread. Alongside Sarah he runs Prayer Space Dundee, a 24-7 Prayer House of Prayer, and he is passionate about seeing the Church in the Celtic lands recovering their identity as people of prayer and mission.
David co-ordinates prayer in and for the Cairn Movement.
