We would like to share an update on two of our Church Planting communities – Port Glasgow and Forres. Both teams of missionaries underwent the Forge Scotland course and received support from the Give Us Scotland fund. Let’s find out how about the progress they have made in their communities!
Church Planting in Port Glasgow
“We are Graham and Marianne McCallum and we lead a small church plant soon to be known as ‘Beacon Community Church’ in Port Glasgow.
We moved here with our the kids in 2020 and our wee team have been establishing an all-age community who meet together to eat, pray, open God’s word and break bread with one another.
We are aiming to create spaces where people can belong, can explore what Christians believe, can become more like Christ and can be a blessing to others in our town. The first half of this year, with the help of Cairn and GUS, we are focusing on prayer in, and for, our town. We are journeying towards our own charitable status, launch of our new name and website and also believing that God will provide the right folk to grow our team and presence here.
Your prayers for these areas would be much appreciated.”
– Marianne McCallum
Church Planting in Forres
Next up we have the Forres Church Planting group.
“We heard God say ‘go to where the people are’” – Stuart Finlayson, Community Pioneer Minister of Forres Community Church in Moray.
Stuart shares an update on the progress the team have made so far; building meaningful relationships within the community and helping people to create a network of Discovery Groups.
While the progress is heartwarming to see, Stuart reminds us of the importance of patience when working to build a movement; “God does things in his own way, and if we are truly thinking in kingdom terms, we must remember that we might never see the full fruit of the seeds that we plant”
