In the first Learning Community we looked at the way Jesus lived and the culture he built around him. Most of his time was spent either with his Father, with his disciples or out and about with the crowds (up, in and out). We considered how Jesus discipled people. He invited them into relationship and then challenged them to change. He lived alongside them and took them with him on mission; he gave them an example to imitate as well as teaching. When they got close to Jesus they saw an example of a balanced life with healthy rhythms of prayer, work and rest. This is really challenging to many of us who are too busy, wish our prayer life was more regular and need more rest.

We were introduced to the challenge to the western church to start with Christ, then think mission and finally church, rather than the other way round. In light of all that we considered how we can wisely lead change in our organisations, model that
